The Rule of Cool

I always recommend choosing your army based on the rule of cool. This is to paint what you think looks cool rather than the most overpowered army.
We recommend this because it will make painting the army more enjoyable and less of a chore, than painting something you don’t like but has good rules.
If you enjoy painting and collecting the faction, you will always get enjoyment from it, even when the rules of your game change.
The risk of buying the best army in your game of choice is that the rules will change, and you may no longer want to play with it.
As Games Workshop updates its rules every three months, it’s common for people to buy the best army and have it nerfed before they finish painting it.
When picking your paint scheme, as with the army, we recommend following the rule of cool.
As long as you don’t choose a colourway that includes a lot of freehand or half-and-half schemes like Nova Marines in Warhammer 40k, it will be easiest to paint what looks best to you.
Even though colours like Yellow don’t cover very well, it will be easier to paint an extra thin coat of yellow than a different colour if you enjoy what you are painting.
